              • May, 1980 – Model for Basic Police Training Defensive Tactics Manual, written by the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Training Council

1980 – 1982: Studied Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do, under Mr. Larry Merfert, under Jae Joon Kim’s organization.  Noteworthy accomplishments:

              • Highest Rank Earned – 1st Gup Red Belt

1982 – 2000: Studied Tang Soo Do under Master Hayme Serrato at Four Seasons Karate, under Karate Institute of America.  Noteworthy accomplishments:

              • December, 1982 – Promoted to Tang Soo Do Cho Dan (1st Degree) Black Belt by Grand Master David Praim
              • 1982 – Four Seasons Karate Instructor of the year
              • 1983 – Four Seasons Karate Black Belt Instructor of the year
              • 1985–1996 – Out of karate to begin raising my family
              • June, 1999 – Promoted to Tang Soo Do E Dan (2nd Degree) Black Belt by Master Hayme Serrato
              • 1999 – Four Seasons Karate Black Belt Instructor of the year
              • 2000 – Four Seasons Karate Black Belt Student of the year

2001 – 2008: Tang Soo Do senior instructor under Master Mike Winnie at Free Spirit Karate.  Noteworthy accomplishments:

              • June, 2002 – Promoted to Tang Soo Do Sam Dan (3rd Degree) Black Belt by Master Hayme Serrato
              • December, 2006 – Promoted to Tang Soo Do Sa Dan (4th Degree) Black Belt by Master Hayme Serrato

2008 – 2010: Tang Soo Do senior instructor under Master Hayme Serrato at Four Seasons Karate.   Noteworthy accomplishments:
