Hayme Serrato’s Martial Arts offers classes for men, women and children. Korean Tang Soo Do is taught, but it is not touted as the “one and only” martial arts style. Students are encouraged to participate in tournaments to view and appreciate other styles while valuing the versatility and beauty of their own.
The walls of the dojang are lined with pictures of successful martial arts role models demonstrating a diversity of skills and styles.
All of the ideas of Tang Soo Do are emphasized: students improve their level of physical fitness along with their ability in sports competition, self-defense and students learn to appreciate Tang Soo Do’s beauty as an art form.
Younger students learn that Tang Soo Do is not a toy or a game and is not to be ‘played with’ offensively against schoolmates. They are expected to demonstrate respect for their peers and instructors beyond the walls of the dojang.
Students learn that even though they are trained in the martial art, they are still committed to peace and do NOT leave the dojang looking for combat. Students are taught that fighting is not a solution to disagreements. One must know when to fight and when to walk away, and not to allow pride or arrogance to permit needless hostility.
Students are encouraged to work hard and continually on their advancements. The staff at Hayme Serrato’s Martial Arts feel strongly that there is no express lane to a true Black Belt. While an individual may be physically ready in a year’s time, three years is actually considered a short time for a person to be mentally ready. This fact has been proven many times over.
Come in for a free tour! We offer a patient, supportive family atmosphere.
All ages are welcome!
